Emma gave up her judicial role and dedicated 3 years of her life to researching what makes us resilient. That research ultimately took her on a journey of over 35,000 miles to interview fifty ‘thrivers’ from around the world who have faced extreme challenge and change – and who are not just surviving, but thriving. Despite a variety of circumstances, they each credit their ability to flourish in the face of adversity to just nine resilience strategies. Emma’s expertise lies in the personal development of individuals and in the relationship dynamics of senior teams. She has worked with thousands of leaders, managers and entrepreneurs to shift unhelpful thinking and behavioural habits so they can be fully confident, focussed and able to make the difference they are capable of.
As a former judge herself, Emma delivers training to every newly appointed judge in England and Wales on how to manage conflict within Court and Tribunal hearings and deal with difficult relationship dynamics. Emma has also designed and delivered advanced multi-day conflict management workshops for hundreds of senior judges across the UK and throughout Europe.

Emma J. Bell was formerly a top-level partner in Scotland’s largest law firm, and an employment judge. Whilst in those roles, Emma combined her passions for personal development and resilience by becoming a resilience coach – and has continued to support business leaders to fulfil personal potential for over eighteen years.
