Vistage Chair

These days devoting most of his time to senior business/leadership coaching and consultancy, David Sheepshanks is best known for his extensive career as a leader in Football , Charity and Business . He served The FA , Football League and Ipswich Town as Chairman and Director over a career spanning the last 30 years and in the voluntary sector Suffolk & UK Community Foundations. Notably , he was the founding Chairman and a key driving force of the FA’s National Football Centre , St George’s Park, which recently celebrated its 12 year anniversary since opening .

Today he is a Leadership Coach and Consultant , helping Companies, Leadership teams and Individuals transform their performance to meet their own growth ambitions. He undertakes this for a select number private clients . Since 2015 he has also been supporting several Vistage Peer Groups www.Vistage.co.uk in a similar manner, winning multiple Vistage Awards for the quality of his work..

Other non executive roles include Chair of the FA Technical Advisory Board ( St George’s Park ) , NED of Video Ltd and Radgrade Ltd and Patron of National Citizen Service (NCS) , President of Ipswich Citizen Advice, Ipswich Samaritans and an Ambassador for Debate Mate

His business background was in the food industry including Starfish Ltd and Suffolk Foods Ltd, ( starting both companies before selling later ) and local radio (Director Radio Orwell/SGR & Chairman Vibe FM). More recently he was a consultant to Argent Related helping develop the Sporting , Educational , Health and Wellbeing proposition for the new development of Brent Cross Town.

In Football David was Chairman St George's Park 2008-2015, Chairman Football League 1996 - 1998 , long serving member of FA and FL Boards and Director then Chairman of Ipswich Town 1987 - 2011

In the voluntary sector, David served as Chairman of UK Community Foundations 2013-2018 www.ukcommunityfoundations.org , Chair of Suffolk Community Foundation 2005-2013 www.suffolkcf.org.uk and founded the original Ipswich Town Charitable Trust in 1998. He also served 10 years as Trustee of the Beacon Collaborative www.beaconcollaborative.org.uk to promote philanthropy and 7 years as Trustee of the Churchill Fellowship www.churchillfellowship.org

David was awarded CBE in 2013 for services to football business and local charity, an Honorary Doctorate from the University of East Anglia in 2004 for services to the community and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk in 2005.
